As of October 2, 2012, I have successfully completed 21 consecutive days of reading at least 30 minutes per day.
Here are just some of the benefits I’ve been enjoying:
- Increased motivation and inspiration
- A strong feeling of achievement from processing books in my library
- Increased focus
- Increased discipline
- Increased productivity
- Increased physical and mental activity
- Increased desire to produce creative works
- Acquisition and application of new knowledge
Knowing that I had to make time to read at least 30 minutes per day resulted in increased productivity in all aspects of my life. For example, I took advantage of small pockets of time that would normally be wasted on unimportant activities (i.e. time wasters) such as waiting around aimlessly, browsing my phone or the internet, unnecessarily checking email, watching tv, etc.
In addition to reading, I also consciously chose to apply certain information that would provide positive benefits instantly. My physical activities and diet have improved. I have been solidifying my goals. I have been thinking differently. I’ve been meeting new people.
During this challenge I started and completed the following books:
- The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
- Damn Good Advice (for People with Talent)!by George Luis
- Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual by Michael Pollan
- It’s Not How Good You Are, But How Good You Want to Be by Paul Arden
This habit has been so beneficial that I have decided to continue and improve upon this habit by reading at least 45 minutes per day. I’m seriously experiencing positive shifts in my life and I can feel the momentum building up.
