What are your hobbies? What do you do for fun?
Simple questions right? Maybe not so simple for most adults.
Recently, I was at a networking function and for the icebreaker the facilitator asked everyone to introduce themselves and share their favorite hobby.
Surprisingly, the majority had no clue what their hobby was. As we went around the room each person would say their name and draw a blank when thinking about what they do for fun and asked to “pass”. The recurring message was that their job was their life and they were too busy for anything else. To top it all off they disliked or were not satisfied with their job!!
I have a feeling that if you asked a group of children what they did for fun, the ideas would be flowing. Let’s bring back our child-like curiosity and make time for fun in our lives.
Ideally, if you are aligned with the life you should be leading, then your work is a sincere source of fun. Keep it that way.
If your work does not bring you happiness, maybe you need to ask yourself why you’re allowing yourself to be in that position. Your time here is precious. Explore the abundance of opportunities available to you. They are there if you look for them.
Everyone’s situation is different, but there’s no excuse for not making pleasure and your passions a priority.
What lifestyle changes can you make right now, that will free up time and space for fun in your life?
Be conscious of what makes you happy and continue to move towards it on a daily basis.
