Did you know that by investing your time in reading a book, you can save countless hours of trying to solve a problem that has already been solved by someone else in a similar situation?
Of all the successful people I know, admire and work with, the majority of them are good readers. Out of their own curiosity, they read to learn, grow and develop. Knowing this, I’ve chosen to devote at least 30 minutes a day to reading.
Learn from your own experiences.
It’s certainly important for us to take action to find answers to our questions and solutions to our problems. We need to think and act on our own, as we experience the sweet and bitter tastes of life. We must not be afraid to fail on our own because it is a part of the learning process. There are things in life you must learn by continuing to fail until you finally get it right (e.g. learning to walk, ride a bike, etc)!
That being said, there is also another way to learn…
Learn from other people’s experiences.
Perhaps you have a specific issue in your life that you’d like to have resolved. Maybe you don’t have any particular issues but would be interested in prevention or taking great leaps toward your goals. Instead of going through the potentially long process of learning it on your own, you can learn from someone else’s similar experience.
Think about this: one book might save you 5 years, IF, you read it.
For example, I am enjoying such beautiful relationships in my life. Much of the success from these relationships is a result of what I’ve learned from past experiences. I must also admit that much of my success with relationships has resulted from what others have passed down to me. I’ve learned what has worked (and what hasn’t work) from others on networking to marriage to winning friends and influencing people.
There are books on changing any aspect of your life.
Available to everyone are books on how to become stronger, healthier, richer, a better leader, a better lover, etc. but for some reason people don’t read them; and they have the ability to read!
Did you know that hundreds of successful people have written their stories in books and they wrote down how they did it, and people don’t read it? How would you explain that? ~ Jim Rohn
Reading is tapping the treasure of ideas.
A book has the potential to accelerate your journey towards creating the lifestyle you deserve to live. Information is available right now that can positively impact your life; all you need to do is look for it and read it.
